Recently the Air QERV - a new concept in Heating & Cooling systems - has been introduced. When I first heard about it I was quite skeptical -and for good reasons!
The person who was explaining Q.E.R.V (Quick Energy Recovery Ventilator) was not the inventor of the technology and was hardly a scientist himself. All the same; the information he provided my hair stand on end.
He gave an early example of the technology in action. The story begins at a home in the Sacramento, CA area. As someone who once lived in the vicinity I can tell you that the winters can easily reach the 30 degree range and the summers are hot - temperatures reach over 100 degrees
They took a old window air conditioner and refitted it with the QERV technology. It was put in the living room window of this two story house (a normal sized home).
That one little unit managed to heat and cool the entire house with a temperature variation of less than 2 degrees. The best part of the QERV is the enormous amount of energy it saves over convention systems. .The QERV system literally saves between 75-80% of the energy costs it takes to run a heating-cooling system.
For people in extreme weather zones (who routinely pay hundreds of dollars a month to run their Heating system) will be blown away by the amount of money they will start saving!
This is ground-breaking new technology we are talking about here - and you can be sure this technology is being patented to the max.
Imagine a system that actually 'reconditions' the air so the air turns into healthy LIVING air. Most homes continuously cycle the same air over and over and the air quickly becomes stale and 'short' of oxygen. This is especially true in recent years because homes have been made 'tighter' to prevent either the heat or A/C air from leaking out..
The QERV also has a filter system that is self cleaning and NEVER needs replacing!
The guys behind this company are about to do an extensive 'road show' - hitting about two dozen cities in February 2009. You can bet I'll be there to see this technology for my own eyes, to measure the energy consumption going into the machine as well as the air that is produced (both for temperature and for quality).
This is an extremely exciting time for the people who want to save a ton of money on their energy bills, for those are looking for healthier air in their homes, and all of us looking to do our part to reduce global warming.
Look for my next post on where the QERV roadshow is headed and how you can see this technology in action with your own eyes. Better yet, email me and I'll keep you informed first hand!

I live in Florida and I am interested in finding out more about the QERV before the hot summer comes. Lower air conditioning costs would save me money, so I can pay other bills.
ReplyDeleteHow is it installed? I have central air conditioning now.
How would I find out about the cost for the unit? Is their a website I can go to?
Thanks
I am considering a High efficient furnace 96% efficent right now I have a Carrier about 76,000BTU 55%-60% 20yrs old A/C Rheem 1989 36,000 BTU. Servicing a 3,000sq.ft. 2 storey home near Toronto Canada.
ReplyDeleteCould your unit replace what I have ?
Whats the specs ?
What access do I need ....size of holes for venting outside....for installation.?
Do I modify existing furnace and Air conditioner ?
What sort of cost ,how much $ ?
Thanks Brian
Heating and cooling with the geothermal way is a great and efficient way to save energy and money both on heating and cooling bills.

Your home is the place you share with those you love most. It serves as your haven in a busy world. Living in a comfortable home is indeed significant. family heating and cooling
ReplyDeleteWith any threat of warm weather, it's the smart homeowner who calls an air conditioner install company to service his or her unit before the heat gets unbearable. If you wait too late in the year you may find they are extremely busy and won't be able to attend to your needs as soon as you'd like. Air Conditioner Installation Toronto
